Double Your Dish Soap

DSC01472-2.jpg

Young Living Thieves Dish Soap has got to be one of my favorite household products in their Thieves line. Not only is it gentle on my hands, it makes my whole sink area smell like Thanksgiving. Who wouldn’t want that? I use about a bottle a month of dish soap and this is frequently on my Essential Rewards order. I get one bottle for $14.00 with my wholesale membership, but this normally retails for $18.42.

I am definitely one to make products last and the great thing about products from Young Living is they are very concentrated. A little goes a long way with just about every single one of their products. Including this dish soap. I found a recipe from Leslie Burris on how to triple your dish soap, but I wanted to try doubling it to see how I liked it. I modified the recipe to fit my needs, but you can do this pretty much however you want.

For this recipe, you will need:

1 empty bottle of Thieves dish soap

1 full bottle of Thieves dish soap

1/2 tablespoon of baking soda

Distilled or filtered water

Funnel

Remove the lids of both bottles. Transfer enough dish soap that there is about the same amount in each bottle.

Use your funnel to add 1/4 tablespoon of baking soda to each bottle of dish soap. I used one of my son’s baby spoons to scoop up the baking soda and pour it into the funnel.

Use the funnel to pour the distilled or filtered water into the bottle. Fill the rest of the bottle with water and put the cap back on.

After you put the caps back on, shake the bottles really good to get everything to mix together.

This whole project took me less than five minutes to finish and it doubled the lifespan of my dish soap. I love that I can do recipes like this with almost all of the products from Young Living. Now that I have two bottles, I don’t have to worry about buying another bottle with my next Essential Rewards order!

Until next time,
